At dg club Marine Sciences Centre (UMF), we have taxonomists specialized in phytoplankton, zooplankton, benthic fauna and macrovegetation.
In taxonomy, organisms are identified, described, named and classified. The occurrence and spread of animals and plants can say a great deal about the state of the marine environment. Being able to identify different species is therefore an important part of environmental monitoring.
