My research is dealing with the understanding of the optimal regulation of the innate immune response during infection and inflammation. Moreover, my team is focusing on the understanding how different bacterial species contribute to the onset and progression of cancer and investigating how changes in the tumor microenvironment affect tumor growth.

Together with Teresa Frisan, I am course leader of the first cycle course “Immunology” (5MO096; 7.5 credits). Thus, both teacher are sharing the responsibility for in-front lectures, seminars/tutorials and Q&A sessions. Additionally, I am the responsible teacher of the “Immunology Module” of the first cycle course Bioscience I for Pharmacists (MO093; 3 credits). Here, I am teaching all lectures, Q&A sessions and seminars.
Moreover, in my laboratory, we are regularly training project, bachelor’s and master's students while conducting their thesis work. These students might be students registered in programs at Umeå University or exchange students such as via ERASMUS exchange.
