I am researching the mechanisms of the bacterium A. actinomycetemcomitans in relation to periodontal diseases. My group uses cell and molecular biological methods to understand how the bacterium can cause damage and survive within the host. With new knowledge, we hope to contribute to new ways to disarm the virulence of the bacterium rather than killing it.
