I am an associate professor at the Department of Science and Mathematics Education at Umeå University and belong to the research environment UFM (Umeå Research Centre for Mathematics Education). My research interests are primarily formative assessment and teacher professional development, as well as research on how students’ problem-solving processes and their reasoning in mathematics can be effectively supported in teaching. It is important to me that my research is beneficial, and therefore I am happy to collaborate with teachers and the surrounding community. The research and development projects I have been involved in have been practice-oriented with a focus on my research interests.
I teach in the teacher education program and am mainly involved in courses that deal with formative assessment (Assessment for Learning), but also courses in, for example, mathematics education.
In addition to research and teaching, I also work at Curiosum with collaboration and development related to Curiosum’s school program. I am also the project manager for the Young Researchers Exhibition semifinal in Umeå.
I have a teaching degree for teaching mathematics, science, and biology, and a PhD in mathematics education. I have previously worked for many years as an upper secondary school teacher and also for a few years as a test developer for the national tests in mathematics for upper secondary schools.
