Host-pathogen interactions under hypoxic conditions
My research focus on how the innate immune system interact with pathogenic fungi and how these interactions are affected by the local decrease in oxygen that arise during infections. Focus is on our most numerous immune cells: neutrophils and the opportunistic fungi Candida albicans.
Neutrophil responses during COVID-19
I also work on a new project on neutrophil responses during SARS-CoV-2 infection and how they contribute to severe COVID-19.
