I am a teacher and researcher in political science. My main research interests lie in environmental politics and policy, with a focus on collaborative governance, conservation, and the rights of Indigenous peoples. My previous work includes studies of how power, influence, and agency is constructed and distributed in and through discourses of conservation and of Indigenous peoples. During the years 2018-2021, I was involved in an interdisciplinary collaborative project that used forests to explore ways to make anthropogenic climate change relevant and possible to act on in local contexts (Bring down the sky to the earth). I now run a project where I analyze the organization and implementation of collaborative arrangements for governance and management of landscapes and natural resources in Sápmi on the Swedish side (Collaboration for conservation in Sápmi, 2020-2024).
My empirical focus is on the Sámi and Nordic parts of the Arctic. I am associated to Várdduo - Centre for Sami Research at Umeå University and the Arctic Research Centre at Umeå University (Arcum).
I teach first- and second cycle courses in political science. I am also the coordinator for the subject teacher education programmes with specialization in civics.
