My research is mainly about how we learn sexual communication and whether sexual communication is perceived to affect the room for action in sexual situations. My dissertation project consists of two sub-studies. The first is of a quantitative nature with a focus on sex education. The second is of a qualitative nature with a focus on sexual communication, interaction between partners and acts during sex. The goal for both sub-studies is to include a wide age range as well as different sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions. Questions I try to answer are:
1. Does the comprehensive sex education we provide in Swedish schools help people develop their sexual communication?
2. How does this interact with various information possibilities via the internet?
3. To what extent is this influenced by sexual orientation and gender identity?
4. How do the interviewees describe that their room for action in sexual situations/practice has been affected by their perceived sexual communicative ability?
5. What do the interviewees think that increased sexual communicative ability would lead to?
I teach and have lectures at several courses within the social work program and the new health care counselor program (advanced level). Mainly I supervise different types of student projekts/papers and teach about different aspects of sexuality in social work (for example sexual stratification or various aspects of sexuality that a counselor in healthcare may have to deal with)
